Maryann C. Chimhanda, MD

Dr. Maryann Chimhanda, MD, MS, FACOG, is an Assistant Professor of Clinical Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Indiana University School of Medicine. Dr. Chimhanda is an IU School of Medicine graduate of the Master of Science in Medical Science (MSMS) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) programs. She completed her residency training in obstetrics and gynecology at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood, Illinois. She was employed as a community-based generalist for 10 years before joining her current academic practice in June 2020. At IU School of Medicine, she serves as the Health Equity Curricular Thread Director and the Statewide Clerkship Director for the third-year Obstetrics and Gynecology clerkship. Her clinical interests include medical education, postpartum depression, uterine fibroids, quality improvement and reduction of health disparities in maternal health. Dr. Chimhanda has received several awards for teaching, mentorship and fostering inclusion.
