Biography
Dr. Matthew Painschab specializes in hematology-oncology with a focus on lymphomas and related blood disorders. He provides expert care for patients with complex hematologic malignancies, using advanced therapies and evidence-based treatment approaches.
Dr. Painschab’s areas of expertise include:
- Castleman disease
- Diffuse large B-cell lymphoma
- Follicular lymphoma
- Hairy cell leukemia
- Hodgkin lymphoma
- Non-Hodgkin lymphoma
- Post-transplant lymphoproliferative disorders
- T-cell non-Hodgkin lymphoma
Dr. Painschab earned his medical degree from Washington University in St. Louis. He completed his residency and internship in internal medicine at Northwestern University in Chicago. He then completed a fellowship in hematology and medical oncology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Dr. Painschab is an associate professor in the Division of Hematology/Oncology within the Department of Medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. He holds the William C. Jr. and Kim L. Lansford Professorship in Global Health (September 2025–present).
