Biography
Michael J. Strobel, PA-C, is an Indiana native who attended Indiana State University, where he studied clinical laboratory science while working full time in a local hospital. After graduation, he worked as a generalist, gaining knowledge by serving patients in hematology, chemistry, blood bank and microbiology.
Three years later, he transitioned to IU Health Central Laboratory to specialize in hematology and oncology. While supporting the leukemia and lymphoma clinics at IU Health University Hospital and Riley Children’s Health, he realized the desire to return to school in search of a more direct patient care role.
Strobel obtained a Bachelor of Science, followed by a Master of Physician Assistant Studies at Butler University in Indianapolis in 2012. He was a member of the National Medical Challenge Bowl team and graduated cum laude.
He is a board-certified physician assistant and has been practicing in Bloomington since 2012. Initially, he practiced emergency medicine where he developed a special interest in treating orthopedic trauma, ultimately transitioning to orthopedic surgery. With over 25 years of hospital experience, he now focuses on treating his communities’ orthopedic and sports medicine needs.
In his free time, Strobel is an avid rock climber and runner and can often be found at the Red River Gorge, a world-class climbing destination just three hours away! He is a Wilderness First responder and eager for any backcountry adventure. He lives in Bloomington with his partner, his two children and their dogs, where they enjoy the local community.
