Biography
Rachel Birkby, M.S., CCC-SLP, is a certified speech-language pathologist with IU Health Neurorehabilitation and Robotics. She earned her Master of Science in Communication Sciences and Disorders from the University of Kentucky in 2022.
Rachel specializes in the treatment of neurological conditions, including stroke and traumatic brain injury. She provides comprehensive care to patients with a wide range of needs, including:
- Speech, language and cognitive disorders
- Voice impairments (trained in videostroboscopy)
- Upper airway disorders, chronic cough and vocal cord dysfunction (VCD)
- Swallowing disorders (MBSImP certified)
- Speech discrimination deficits following cochlear implants
- Head and neck cancer (trained in tracheoesophageal puncture [TEP] care)
Rachel is passionate about helping her patients regain their communication and swallowing abilities, and she finds great fulfillment in supporting individuals through their rehabilitation journey.
Outside of work, Rachel enjoys spending time with her family, reading and running.
