A $25,000 gift to remember a legacy of service

March 16, 2021

MARTINSVILLE, Ind. (March 5, 2021) – The IU Health Morgan Cancer Center team has extended its sincerest wishes of gratitude to HomeBank, a local banking institution, which is contributing $25,000 to the Cancer Center in memory of HomeBank’s former CEO and Chairman Gene Levell.

“Gene Levell was devoted to family, HomeBank, and this community,” said HomeBank President and CEO Lisa Arnold. “With this gift to IU Health Morgan, we hope to honor Gene and his legacy of service.”

IU Health Morgan Chief Operating Officer and Chief Nursing Officer Jason King stated, “Our cancer team is extremely dedicated to the patients we serve, and we are honored that Home Bank thought of us when making this decision to donate.”

“Each donor can – and does – make a difference,” said Diane Buzzell, Director of Philanthropy for the South Central Region of IU Health. “Philanthropy is making possible advanced technologies and treatments to deliver the future of cancer care here and now.”

Specifically, the money will be utilized to further IU Health Morgan’s goal of purchasing a new linear accelerator. These medical machines precisely target and fight tumors in patients, while minimizing adverse effects on healthy tissue.

“We’re always thinking of how we can better care for our patients,” said King. “This gift is helping us continue on this road of always improving.”

“Our Cancer Center and its amazing team share that same commitment to serving with excellence and making life better in our community,” said Arnold. “This donation will hopefully give assistance to those in need and provide support to this outstanding institution.”
