Gary Henriott has been appointed chair of the board of directors for the West Central Region of Indiana University Health, which includes IU Health Arnett, Frankfort, White Memorial hospitals, medical offices, outpatient surgery center and physicians’ group.

Henriott first joined the board in June 2015. Henriott is a Lafayette native who graduated from Purdue’s Krannert School of Management. He is chairman emeritus of the Henriott Group, an insurance, employee benefit and risk management firm headquartered in Lafayette.

“Gary brings a wealth of experience and valued expertise to the West Central Region board, including an understanding of healthcare and a passion for education,” said Art Vasquez, president of the IU Health Arnett and the West Central Region of IU Health.

“It is an honor to hold this important role with the West Central Region of IU Health,” added Henriott. “I look forward to continuing to work with those who have shown a love and commitment to this community I call home.”

Healthcare systems across the country face a shortage of qualified providers and educating qualified medical assistants can address deficiencies across departments. Henriott and his wife Shelly understand this need and recently helped by funding Pathways into Healthcare, which trains entry level IU Health team members to become certified medical assistants. During the 30-week program, employees receive regular pay and benefits but spend half their work time in on-the-job training for their new profession.

“Gary will help us promote values-based decision-making and build community partnerships to promote quality healthcare and education to serve our community for years to come,” added Vasquez.

Henriott and his wife have three children and seven grandchildren. Both are actively engaged in many community and regional projects. Henriott also serves as the board chair of the Wabash Heartland Innovation Network and president of the Board of Works and Public Safety for the City of Lafayette and is a member of Purdue University’s Athletic Affairs Committee.
