IU Health Bloomington continues dedication to nursing excellence with fourth Magnet designation

April 30, 2025

On Friday, April 25, IU Health Bloomington nursing leaders gathered with balloons, cookies and sparkling grape juice for a very special call from the American Nurses Credentialing Center (ANCC) that announced Bloomington's fourth designation as part of the Magnet Recognition Program.

“This fourth Magnet recognition is a powerful testament to the unwavering dedication and commitment to nursing excellence, continuous improvement, a collaborative practice environment, exceptional skills and compassionate care that our nurses demonstrate every single day,” says Bloomington Chief Nursing Officer Cindy Herrington, DNP, FNP. “It validates the culture of excellence we have cultivated and the profound impact our nurses have on the lives of our patients and their families. We are immensely proud of this recognition and the standard of care it represents.”

"IU Health Bloomington Hospital is committed to its nurses and the community we serve," says Kristy Todd, MSN, RN, IU Health Bloomington Magnet Program Coordinator. "Today our nurses achieved the highest honor for nursing excellence in the nation for the fourth consecutive time. I am incredibly proud and honored to be among our nurses and interprofessional teams in our organization."

Only 9.8% of hospitals in the United Stated are designated Magnet and IU Health Bloomington earned seven exemplars (categories where it outperformed national averages) from the ANCC.
