INDIANAPOLIS – Brownsyne Tucker Edmonds, MD, MPH, MS, has been named vice president and chief health equity officer at Indiana University Health effective July 1. In the newly created role, Tucker Edmonds will focus on ensuring equitable levels of care and equal access to care for the diverse patients and communities that IU Health serves. Tucker Edmonds will continue her practice as an OB/GYN at IU Health and Eskenazi Health.
Additionally, Tucker Edmonds was named associate dean for health equity research at Indiana University School of Medicine, where she serves as associate professor for the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Tucker Edmonds received bachelor and medical degrees from Brown University and completed her OB/GYN residency at Duke University. She earned master’s degrees in public health from Harvard School of Public Health and in health policy research from University of Pennsylvania. She is an affiliate research scientist for the Regenstrief Institute and serves as the co-leader of the Health Equity and Racial Justice Task Force and co-director of workforce development, education and research training programs for Indiana Clinical and Translational Sciences Institute.
