INDIANAPOLIS – For the second year in a row, U.S. News & World Report (USNWR) has named Indiana University Health’s insurance company, IU Health Plans, one of the best insurance companies for Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans for 2022.
The designation from the publisher, known for its business and education rankings, highlights insurance companies that offer highly rated health coverage to Medicare beneficiaries. Insurance companies that make the list have an average of 4.5 stars or higher in either their Medicare Advantage or in Part D. The list serves as a resource for Medicare beneficiaries and their families searching for the best coverage options during the annual open-enrollment period, which runs through Dec. 7.
IU Health Plans is the only health insurance plan in Indiana with this designation. The plan prides itself on its attention to benefits that reflect the needs of Hoosiers, including diabetes care and other chronic condition management, prevention activities such as colorectal cancer and breast cancer screenings, and whole-person health, including new and expanded cognitive health benefits.
“Choosing the right Medicare Advantage plan can be overwhelming. USNWR utilizes plans’ CMS star rating, which covers various measures from clinical quality to customer service, and it also considers plans’ prices and benefits when determining the best Medicare insurance companies. The rankings and the information provided help empower Medicare beneficiaries and their families in choosing the right plan,” said IU Health Plans President Stephanie Motter.
The IU Health Plans Medicare Advantage plan currently provides coverage to just over 14,000 Hoosiers and plans to double membership over the next few years.
“IU Health Plans offers Hoosiers a unique partnership with Indiana University Health’s providers throughout the state. Our physicians, advanced practice providers and the entire care team work hand-in-hand, providing high-quality care that ensures patients receive the holistic care they need,” said Greg Kiray, MD, senior vice president of community and population health and chief medical officer of System Health Solutions at IU Health.
