Press Release

IU Health to transition EHR platform

October 04, 2024

INDIANAPOLIS – After an extensive evaluation of electronic health record (EHR) platforms, the Indiana University Health Board of Directors approved Epic as the new EHR provider for the IU Health system. Full implementation across the organization is expected to occur over the next two and a half years, with an anticipated launch for patient and provider use in mid-2027.

With upcoming expansions in Fort Wayne, Fishers and downtown Indianapolis, this investment comes at a critical time for the health system as it works to advance its vision to make Indiana one of the healthiest states in the nation. IU Health expects the integration of this platform across the system will help advance patient care, employee experience, organizational operations, research and communications.

Team members will receive details about implementation plans and receive regular updates as their involvement is essential to the successful transition to the new EHR platform. Patients can expect to receive additional details about the new EHR platform closer to the launch date when they will need to take action to access their healthcare records.
