IU Health Addiction Treatment & Recovery Center - Avon
Hours
At IU Health West Hospital, we help treat anyone facing addiction, including alcohol, drugs, tobacco and other substances.
We help adults (18 and older) with an addiction detox, rehab and a structured therapy program. This outpatient program allows you to go to school, work and remain connected to your support system.
Our Approach to Addiction Treatment & Recovery
Our goal is to help you break the cycle of addiction. We will support you or your loved one in developing the tools needed to build a satisfying life.
Our goal goes beyond just abstinence from your substance use disorder. We want to improve the patient and family’s quality of life in every domain. This includes work, school and personal relationships.
Once enrolled in the program, patients engage in a variety of services that may include group therapy, individual therapy, education, recovery coaching and skills training. All of these services are available on-site or can be offered virtually.
Your clinician will partner with you to help reach your therapy goals. Whether it is getting back to work, rebuilding relationships or improving overall quality of life, your counselor can help to walk alongside you in your process of healing.
Addiction Therapy Services
You will partner with your clinician to determine the appropriate level of care. Patients may attend individual therapy on a weekly or monthly basis or enroll in our Intensive Outpatient Treatment program (IOT).
Our IOT program consists of a minimum of 12 hours of services Monday-Friday for approximately 6 weeks. Patients are offered a clinical treatment team, including therapists, recovery coaches and medical staff. Aftercare is available for patients on an ongoing basis, even after program completion.
Our addiction therapy services include:
- Group psychotherapy
- Individual therapy
- Family therapy
- Medication Assisted Treatment
- Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT)
- Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT)
- Recovery coaching
- Relapse prevention skills
- Aftercare program
- 12-step program education
- Mindfulness and meditation
- Exercise therapy and yoga
Medical Support
In addition to therapeutic care, our team offers medical services to support your recovery. We believe in whole person wellness: in order to heal we must treat the mind, body and spirit.
Detox & Hands-On Care
Upon enrollment in clinical services, you will meet your medical support team. At the IU Health West Addiction Treatment & Recovery Center, we take a whole person approach to your care. For many individuals, active addiction can lead to new, worsening, or previously unaddressed health concerns. Detox is often an important first step in the recovery process. During detox, your body begins clearing substances from your system, which may result in withdrawal symptoms. These can vary depending on the substance and may include discomfort, anxiety, changes in mood, sleep disturbances, or physical symptoms. Our medical team closely monitors you throughout this process to ensure safety, manage symptoms, and provide appropriate interventions to keep you as comfortable as possible.
With a full medical history, general lab work, and referrals to appropriate providers and specialists, our caregivers work to ensure that each patient’s basic health needs are met while in the program.
Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) refers to the use of medications, in combination with counseling and other behavioral services, to support recovery from substance use disorders. At IU Health, we offer these medications as an adjunct to your therapeutic care and to help stabilize you throughout treatment—including during detox and withdrawal management.
If you are interested in MAT or have questions about detox or withdrawal support, please speak with the medical staff on site. Together, you can determine the best and safest treatment plan for your recovery.
