Internal medicine doctors are sometimes called “internists” or “general internists”. They treat adults aged 18 and older and cover all primary health concerns except surgery and obstetrics.
Internists provide care focused on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of adult diseases. They are trained to solve diagnostic problems and manage severe chronic illnesses. Internists focus on your coordination of care and refer to specialists, when necessary.

Preparing for Your Appointment
Prior to your appointment, please bring the following:
- Insurance and identification card(s)
- A copy of relevant medical records
- A list of current medications, including over-the-counter medicines and supplements
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete any outstanding paperwork.

Free parking is available on-site for patients and visitors. We are located off Old U.S. 231.

Indiana University Health Arnett is a NCQA (National Committee for Quality Assurance) Patient-Centered Medical Home. This model of primary care combines teamwork and information technology to improve care, improve patients’ experience of care and reduce costs. Medical homes foster ongoing partnerships between patients and their personal clinicians.
Each patient’s care is overseen by clinician-led care teams that coordinate treatment across the healthcare system. In addition, primary care locations offer early morning, evening and weekend appointment availability to best accommodate patient scheduling needs.
For patients not able to access their primary care provider, after-hours care is also available through urgent care and walk-in services.
