The IU Health Ball Memorial Heart and Lung Center helps patients with COPD and heart failure. In particular, we assist in controlling flare-ups and avoiding hospital admissions.

Our care options help patients improve and extend their lives. We will see patients with a sudden worsening of symptoms the same day or within 24 hours of notification. Services offered for care include:

  • IV administration of Furosemide
  • IV administration of Solu-Medrol
  • On-site nebulizer treatments
  • Lab draws

The Heart and Lung Center has a specialized team to care for their patients. Those enrolled in our Heart and Lung Center will have access to specialized Nurse Practitioners, Community Paramedics, and on-campus pharmacy, lab services, palliative care, and the Heart Failure College educational course.

Our Services

At IU Health Ball Memorial Physicians Heart and Lung Center, we see patients for routine visits and acute services you may need. Scheduled or routine visits are designed to supplement the specialist in the care of these complex disease processes. The goals of therapy include:

  • Optimization and education regarding medications for heart failure and COPD
  • Communication and collaboration with referring provider(s)
  • Counseling regarding lifestyle modifications related to COPD and Heart Failure
  • Identify contributing factors and facilitate appropriate testing.
  • Early discharge follow-up for patients at risk of readmission
  • Schedule Community Paramedicine and Virtual Provider visits to accommodate patients when appropriate.

*Patients with acute exacerbations will be seen by our team the same day or within 24 hours of clinic notification.
