At IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine, we consider you a member of the healthcare team. Our surgeons are dedicated to providing clear explanations of treatment options as well as encouraging questions and discussion, so that you can make educated decisions regarding your healthcare. Our training, experience, and reputation allow us to make recommendations you can trust. We take your musculoskeletal problems very seriously and measure our success with each individual outcome.
Preparing for your appointment
Orthopedic specialists are in high demand. We apologize in advance if there is a waiting period for your initial consultation. We have streamlined our triage and scheduling systems to get you rapid access to our orthopedic specialists.
If you have a severe injury or fracture, we make every attempt to see you the same or next day. We have included all of our new patient forms above; please complete the forms prior to your visit. Also, we ask that you carefully consider and write down any questions that you may have so that our surgeons can answer them during your visit.
Our team
Our orthopedic surgeons and physicians are highly specialized in the treatment of injuries and illnesses of the musculoskeletal system, including bones, joints, muscles, tendons and nerves. All of our orthopedic surgeons have undergone extensive training, including four years of college, four years of medical school, and five years of orthopedic residency. Seven of our physicians completed an additional year of fellowship training to gain expertise areas such as joint replacement, sports medicine and hand surgery. If you have a musculoskeletal problem, make sure you see a physician who is trained in orthopedic surgery.
What to expect at your visit
Your visit will start with one of our experienced nurses who will take your medical history and vital signs. One of our surgeons will then conduct a personal interview and history. This will be followed by a physical examination and review of previous tests, imaging, and treatments. Diagnostic imaging is often required to diagnose your problem. IU Health Southern Indiana Physicians Orthopedics & Sports Medicine has X-ray and MRI available on-site at most of our office locations. Finally, a treatment plan will be formulated, which may include activity modification, medications, injections, physical therapy, and/or surgery. Our surgeons always allow time for your questions.

Through Indiana University Health Bloomington Hospital, our surgeons provide emergency services to patients of all financial means and provide surgical services for the Volunteers in Medicine program, helping those who are less fortunate.
