Biography

Dr. Elaine A. Gilbert, PsyD is an associate professor of clinical psychiatry within the departments of Psychiatry and Pediatrics at Indiana University School of Medicine / Riley Children’s Hospital. Dr. Gilbert is a pediatric psychologist who provides consultation and care for children and adolescents experiencing interplay of physiological and psychological symptoms.

She completed her graduate training at Indiana State University and both her Clinical Psychology Internship and Post-Doctoral Fellowship at University of Louisville’s Medical School apart of Norton Children’s Hospital. Dr. Gilbert served as the director of pediatric psychology within pediatric gastroenterology, hepatology, and nutrition at IU School of Medicine from 2018-2024 before further specializing in pediatric orthopedic and sports medicine. Dr. Gilbert serves as the clinical director of the pediatric psychology orthopedic and sports medicine service as well as co-chair for the APA Division 54 Special Interest Group: Sports Medicine and Orthopedics.

In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Gilbert is involved in research related to integration of psychological services in medicine while prioritizing patient advocacy, community engagement and resiliency.
