Biography

Janice L. Farlow, MD PhD, is a board-certified Otolaryngology-Head and Neck surgeon who works with a specialized multidisciplinary team designed to deliver cutting-edge, individualized and comprehensive high-quality care. As a surgeon, she specializes in the treatment of benign and malignant head and neck tumors, as well as complex reconstruction of the head and neck with autologous tissue transplants.

She treats a wide variety of head and neck neoplasms, including tumors of the mouth, throat, voice box, saliva glands, thyroid and parathyroid glands, face and scalp. In addition to her fellowship training specific to transplanting different bony and soft tissue types from elsewhere in the body to reconstruct complex defects of the head and neck, Farlow also has advanced training in minimally invasive techniques including transoral robotic surgery and transoral laser microsurgery.

After obtaining her undergraduate degree at Indiana University Bloomington, she graduated from the combined MD-PhD program at the Indiana University School of Medicine. She then completed otolaryngology residency at the University of Michigan, followed by a fellowship in Advanced Head and Neck Oncology and Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery at The Ohio State University James Cancer Center. Her research interests focus on precision oncology, or identifying the right treatments for the right patient at the right time. She has published and presented nationally on topics in head and neck cancer, quality of life and medical education.
