Biography
Dr. Smithers earned his medical degree at Vanderbilt University in 2003 and then completed an Internal Medicine/Pediatrics Residency at Good Samaritan in Phoenix, Ariz. Following this, he did a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Arizona State University from 2007-2008.
Dr. Smithers has served as team physician for Arizona State University, including traveling with the Men’s basketball team to provide medical coverage during the Maui Invitational, and Belleville East High School in St. Louis, Missouri. He has also provided medical coverage during collegiate athletic events, including NCAA Men’s Baseball Regionals and PAC-10 championships. Dr. Smithers is board certified in Primary Care Sports Medicine, Pediatrics and Internal Medicine, and has participated in several medical mission trips, including trips to Peru, Venezuela and Colombia.
