Katheryn M. George, NP

Katheryn (Kathy) M. George, NP, specializes in nephrology. She spent the first fifteen years of her career working as a licensed practical nurse in a variety of positions, including medical-surgical hospital units, nursing homes and correctional positions with the State of Indiana. As healthcare shifted, Kathy began to desire a role that allowed her to better advocate for patients, so in 1997 she went back to school.

Kathy obtained her Associate of Science in Nursing from Ivy Tech Community College and went on to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana State University and her Master of Science in Nursing as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner from Indiana University Purdue University Indianapolis.

Since then, she has worked as a hospitalist NP at IU Health Methodist as well as an emergency department NP at IU Health Bloomington Hospital for several years. After many years in the emergency department, Kathy began working with kidney and hypertension patients, both in office settings and dialysis units.

When not caring for patients, she can be found advocating and caring for animals. She is a board member of Silver Linings Rescue, where she works with the elderly to keep pets in their homes. She also enjoys being outdoors and going for hikes, birdwatching and watching the changing seasons. Kathy also appreciates a good sense of humor in all whom she interacts with.
