Biography
Lauren Mooney, M.A., CCC-SLP, is a speech pathologist with IU Health Neurorehabilitation & Robotics. Lauren completed her undergraduate studies at Purdue University, then attended Indiana University, where she obtained her master’s degree.
Lauren has 11 years of experience in speech pathology, working across multiple settings, including inpatient rehabilitation, acute care and outpatient rehabilitation. Lauren specializes in the treatment of neurological conditions, including (but not limited to):
- Stroke
- Traumatic brain injury
- Parkinson's Disease
- Neurosurgical patients
- Neuromuscular diseases (such as muscular dystrophy, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy, multiple systems atrophy, etc.)
Lauren works with a variety of patients, including those with:
- Voice impairments (LSVT and SPEAK OUT! certified)
- Upper airway disorders/Chronic cough/VCD
- Swallowing disorders (MBS, MDTP Certified)
- Speech discrimination impairments following cochlear implants
- Speech, language and cognitive disorders
Lauren’s favorite things about being a speech pathologist are making a difference in an individual’s life and helping them meet their goal(s).
Outside of work, she enjoys spending time with her friends and family, reading, traveling and running. She is almost halfway through her goal of running a half marathon in every state.
