Biography
Dr. Michael D. Gabbard, MD chose to specialize in adult reconstruction because hip and knee replacement surgery allows him the opportunity to provide patients significant pain relief and improvement in function that lets them get back to doing the things they enjoy.
He enjoys getting to know his patients and learning what is most important to them. Dr. Gabbard and his patients can work together to discuss treatment options and use shared-decision making to identify the best method to achieve their desired result, whether this involves surgery or not. He also feels it is important to keep himself educated on modern techniques and critically evaluate these to ensure he is providing patients with the best and most up to date care possible.
Dr Gabbard is an avid fisherman, enjoys spending time outdoors and a huge college football fan. He is a proud husband to his wife, Amy Gabbard (also a physician at IU Health).
