Biography

Dr. Nikhil Batra is a pediatric urologist specializing in reconstructive surgery to correct congenital abnormalities. He utilizes both open and minimally invasive surgical techniques to provide excellent outcomes. He is an Assistant Professor of Urology at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Dr. Batra earned his medical degree at the Carver College of Medicine at the University of Iowa and completed his urology residency at the University of Florida College of Medicine. He completed his pediatric urology fellowship at Riley Hospital for Children at Indiana University Health. At Riley Hospital for Children Dr. Batra focuses on treating children with neurogenic bladder, including those with spina bifida/myelomeningocele, tethered cord and caudal regression syndrome. He performs urologic reconstructive surgeries to help manage neurogenic bladder and bowel including appendicovesicostomy (APV) channel creation, MACE channel creation, bladder augmentations and urinary tract diversion surgery (bladder chimney and urinary conduit surgeries).

He also provides care to children with congenital urinary tract abnormalities, including vesicoureteral reflux (VUR) and ureteropelvic junction obstruction (UPJO) and surgery to correct these conditions. He also collaborates with pediatric oncology and pediatric general surgery to help manage complex urologic oncologic cases (Wilms tumor).
