Dr. Rick F. Nelson, MD, PhD specializes in neurotology & lateral skull base surgery at IU Health. He is the Medical Director of the IU Health’s Skull Base Surgery Program. Nelson has an extensive background in medical education and research and has published numerous articles on acoustic neuromas and spontaneous CSF leaks. He has treated over 700 skull base tumors, where he specializes in facial nerve preservation and hearing preservation. In addition, he specializes in hearing restoration through cochlear implantation.
