Biography
Dr. Tanyanan Tanawuttiwat, MD, is a board-certified cardiac electrophysiologist specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of complex heart rhythm disorders. She performs advanced procedures including catheter ablation for atrial and ventricular arrhythmias, supraventricular tachycardia (SVT) and device implantation such as defibrillators, pacemakers—including conductive system pacing, leadless pacemakers and subcutaneous/extravascular ICDs—as well as left atrial appendage occlusion.
As the first healthcare provider in her family, Dr. Tanawuttiwat was inspired to pursue medicine by a desire to chart a new path and a deep fascination with human physiology. Her passion for scientific reasoning and problem-solving continues to fuel her commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence-based care.
Dr. Tanawuttiwat earned her medical degree from Chulalongkorn University in Bangkok, Thailand, and later completed a Master of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. She completed her residency in internal medicine at the University of Illinois at Chicago/Advocate Christ Medical Center, followed by fellowships in cardiovascular disease at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and in cardiac electrophysiology at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine.
She holds board certifications from the American Board of Internal Medicine, the American Board of Cardiovascular Diseases and the American Board of Clinical Cardiac Electrophysiology. Dr. Tanawuttiwat is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians (FACP), American College of Cardiology (FACC), American Heart Association (FAHA), Heart Rhythm Society (FHRS) and The Heart Association of Thailand.
Outside of her clinical work, Dr. Tanawuttiwat enjoys hiking, traveling and playing tennis. She is actively involved in academic medicine as an Associate Professor and has contributed to numerous publications and clinical research.
