Biography
Dr. Zachary Fulkerson is a pulmonologist and critical care physician at Indiana University Health and serves as Director of Pulmonary Hypertension and Cardiopulmonary Exercise Testing at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis, Indiana. He specializes in pulmonary vascular disease, exercise physiology and advanced cardiopulmonary exercise testing.
Dr. Fulkerson completed his medical degree at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, followed by residency training in internal medicine and fellowship training in pulmonary and critical care medicine at Indiana University School of Medicine. He has additional expertise in the evaluation and management of pulmonary arterial hypertension and complex cardiopulmonary disorders, with a clinical focus on integrating physiologic exercise testing into patient care.
In his role as director, Dr. Fulkerson leads a multidisciplinary pulmonary hypertension program focused on comprehensive, evidence-based care for patients with pulmonary vascular disease. His work emphasizes early diagnosis, risk stratification and individualized treatment strategies, as well as the use of cardiopulmonary exercise testing to better understand unexplained dyspnea and exercise intolerance.
