Going the extra mile for every breath

Going the extra mile for every breath

For Greg Pridemore, RRT, no two days look the same, and that is part of what draws him to his role on the non-invasive ventilation (NIV) team. Since joining in early 2025, Pridemore has built a reputation for showing up with a positive attitude and a willingness to do whatever is needed for patients.

His work often takes him beyond traditional healthcare settings. Pridemore travels to patient homes or hospital rooms prior to discharge, delivering NIV equipment and spending time educating patients and caregivers until they feel confident. He also supports established patients by troubleshooting equipment, adjusting masks or settings, reviewing therapy data and following up by phone to make sure therapy is working as intended.

“It’s easy to be motivated to go above and beyond for a patient by thinking about what kind of healthcare provider I would want for myself and my family,” Pridemore says. “I would never want a patient to think what I do is ‘just a job.’”

That mindset shows up consistently in his work. His manager, Skyla Gibbs, has shared that Pridemore always maintains a positive attitude and goes above and beyond when it comes to meeting patient needs. He regularly offers to complete setups regardless of the time or location and has stepped in to support patients preparing to go home over a weekend. According to Gibbs, he does this without complaint and with genuine compassion for the people he serves.

For Pridemore, the most rewarding moments come from seeing patients regain comfort and confidence. “Patients are typically excited to tell you about the impact our team has had on their quality of life,” he says. Helping someone breathe easier, he adds, is work that truly matters.
