Indiana Biobank keeping Indiana researchers on cutting edge of medical innovation

Take a closer look inside The Indiana Biobank. It’s an amazing resource co-developed by IU Health and Indiana University School of Medicine. It’s essentially a huge library containing tens of thousands of blood samples and information that can be used by clinical researchers to find better treatments for diseases. This is a resource that relies heavily on patient participation.

"If you agree to participate, you’ll sign a consent document, we’ll answer any questions you have, then at your next clinical blood draw as part of your normal healthcare visit there would be a sample for the Biobank taken,” said Brooke Patz, an Indiana Biobank senior operational manager. “The goal of the Biobank is to be a resource to researchers to accelerate and drive innovation in Indiana. We’re encouraging patients statewide to learn more about it and consider participating."
