Indy Health District breaks ground on affordable housing project

Affordable housing is coming to Indianapolis' Near Northside thanks to a collaborative effort between IU Health and various community partners. Construction is underway at 22nd and Illinois Streets, in the heart of the recently established Indy Health District. The project will add 116 affordable and workforce-rate rental units to the area that is currently starved for affordable housing. "This development gives myself hope," said Maria Langston, Near North Development Corporation Board Chair and Meridian Highlands Neighborhood Association Representative. "It says our neighborhood matters. It says that people like me and my neighbors deserve to live in safe, stable, quality housing."
