Paralysis patient credits physical therapy for ability to propose on one knee
Kyle Wicklund had it all planned out. He was going to propose to his girlfriend, Victoria, on the beach in his home state of New Jersey. The big day was just a couple weeks away when Kyle, who lives in Indianapolis, experienced a sudden onset of paralysis. "Out of nowhere my legs just kind of went out on me," said Kyle, who had Victoria drive him to Methodist Hospital where he remained for several days.
Kyle worked with neurologists and physical therapists to help him regain the use of his legs all while hoping to be discharged in time for his trip to New Jersey. "They asked me what my goals were and I said I want to get down on one knee to propose to my girlfriend. We actually practiced the movement of getting down on one knee, opening a box and then getting back up."
Fast forward several weeks- Kyle is now working with his medical team on a diagnosis and treatment plan while also planning a wedding!
