Parkinson’s Choir members hitting the right notes to slow disease progression

Tom Ferry is an IU Health patient battling Parkinson’s disease (PD). As part of his supportive care he, along with a few other PD patients meet periodically at the IU Health Neuroscience Center to sing in a music therapist-led choir specifically designed to help patients like him. “Obviously Parkinson’s is a progressive disorder… but we can do all we can to fight it,” said Tom. “PD can negatively impact speech and since joining the choir I’ve seen significant improvement in my stamina, breath control and also my quality of speech.”
