Neurosurgery
Neurosurgery treats conditions that affect the brain, spine and nerves, including aneurysms, tumors and injuries.
Doctors diagnosed Ryleigh Taylor with a large skull-base tumor after she went to the ER with a bad headache. Her doctor in Tennessee referred her to IU Health for treatment. While a group of highly-trained surgeons developed a plan of attack, Ryleigh's dad thought she could use some extra motivation to get through the rough road ahead. "I was like, ok she needs something else to think about and she really likes these Nissan 370 Zs," said Joseph Taylor, Ryleigh's dad. "So we went and looked at a couple and brought one home. We knew it was going to be really difficult for her... and I wanted her to have something to look forward to where she'd want to get busy and get through all this recovery and therapy."

Brain tumors can put you at risk for serious complications that interfere with normal functioning. Cancerous or noncancerous, they can cause disruptive symptoms.
Abnormal tissue growing within or around your spinal cord. The pressure these tumors place on surrounding nerves and tissues make functioning difficult.
Complex brain tumors grow in hard-to-reach areas and may be attached to structures in and around the brain.
Skull base tumors develop at the base of the brain and can impact nerves and vessels and lead to vision, hearing, balance, and hormone dysfunction function. These complex tumors require expert, team-based care.
