Pharmacy tech on caring for patients with HIV- Compassion is key

Amanda Jones is a pharmacy technician who cares for patients living with HIV. "We're calling patients every day helping them deal with insurance issues, prior authorizations, lapses in insurance. We're able to work with the clinical teams and social workers to try to get these issues resolved," said Amanda. "The patients I work with, a lot of times they've had to deal with a lot of stigma in their lives. They've been treated poorly or unfairly which is terribly unfortunate. I see it as my job to bridge that gap where they never feel that stigma when they go into a pharmacy. Compassionate people are needed in this role."
