Pharmacy tech repurposes Styrofoam coolers to be used as cat shelters

Julisa Parsons is an IU Health pharmacy tech who saw the opportunity to turn used styrofoam coolers into cozy cat shelters. "The warehouses that supply our warehouse send us [Styrofoam] coolers every single day with refirgerated medications, but a lot of them just end up as waste," said Julisa, who thought of a creative way to recycle. "I live in Martinsville and there's a non-profit group called Street Cat Community Outreach. They now take the coolers, drill a hole in the side, fill them with straw and give them to people for free to use as cat shelters."
