Virtual Care nurses strengthen collaboration through shared workflows
Over the past several weeks, nurses from the Remote Patient Monitoring (RPM) team and the Virtual Nursing Hub have taken meaningful steps to integrate their work across multiple virtual care functions. Although introducing new workflows can be challenging, both teams have approached the transition with patience, flexibility and a clear commitment to patients.
According to clinical operations managers Amelia Fowler and Hannah Voils, the teams have invested substantial time getting to know each other’s processes and sharing best practices. RPM nurses are training on Twistle Hypertension Monitoring and Urgent Care Callback workflows.
At the same time, Nursing Hub team members have gained hands-on experience supporting hypertension monitoring and have completed training in care management technology and related enrollment processes. Fowler and Voils say these efforts are laying a strong foundation for ongoing collaboration.
The cross training has brought more consistency to scheduling and daily workflow. Each nurse now begins their shift with a defined patient assignment, which creates more structure and predictability. It also allows nurses to focus more deeply on specialized programs rather than switching roles from day to day.
Throughout the transition, team members have demonstrated a strong commitment to one another. They regularly participate in meetings to refine standard work, spend extra time learning new patient education processes and support colleagues as workloads shift.
One team member frequently recognized for her adaptability is Aisha Perkins, an RPM nurse who volunteers for new training opportunities and brings a solutions-focused mindset to each task. Fowler says Perkins' positivity and willingness to step in wherever needed have encouraged others to embrace change as well.
“I am incredibly proud of our Virtual Nursing Hub team,” Voils says. “They continue to approach new responsibilities with professionalism and resilience, always focused on what is best for our patients and our organization.”
