Biography
Dr. Brijesh D. Patel, DO, is a board-certified non-invasive cardiologist with specialized expertise in cardio-oncology and advanced cardiovascular imaging. He is currently an Assistant Professor of Medicine in the Division of Cardiology at Indiana University School of Medicine, where he provides comprehensive cardiovascular care with a focus on patients undergoing cancer therapy.
Dr. Patel’s clinical practice encompasses a wide range of advanced imaging modalities, including transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, stress echocardiography, cardiac CT, nuclear cardiology and cardiac PET imaging. His research interests center on the integration of artificial intelligence in cardiovascular diagnostics, radiomics and machine learning for cardiac risk prediction.
With over 100 peer-reviewed publications and book chapters in leading cardiology and oncology journals, Dr. Patel is recognized nationally for his contributions to cardiovascular imaging and cardio-oncology. He has received multiple awards for excellence in teaching and education and previously served as Associate Program Director of the Cardiovascular Fellowship at West Virginia University, where he also held an adjunct appointment in Biomedical Engineering.
Dr. Patel earned his Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency as Chief Resident at Providence Hospital and Medical Center in Southfield, MI, followed by a Cardiology Fellowship at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown, PA.
