Biography
Claire E. Burgardt, MD, is a skilled and diligent surgeon caring for the Avon, IN and surrounding communities. Dr. Burgardt attended Indiana University, where she earned her degree in medicine and completed her General Surgery Residency. She is a part of IU Health General Surgery, and she is board certified by the American Board of Surgery.
Since 2013, Dr. Burgardt has served as a general surgeon faculty member at Moi University School of Medicine in Eldoret, Kenya. She holds a visiting lecturer title at that school, and from August 2013 through August 2016 she lived in Eldoret with her family maintaining a busy surgical practice and teaching medical students and residents at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital.
Dr. Burgardt enjoys teaching and has the opportunity to regularly teach IU medical students and residents that are on rotation at the IU West Hospital. She also helps guide residents as they take on quality improvement projects during their training.
