Dr. David Roe’s area of clinical practice is lung transplant, lung failure and pulmonary/critical care medicine at IU Health Methodist Hospital. He is an associate clinical professor of medicine in the IU School of Medicine’s Division of Pulmonary Medicine.

He is the medical director of the IU Health lung transplant program and the cardiovascular critical care unit. He is also medical director of the Extracorporeal Membrane Oxygenation (ECMO) program, which is the only Extracorporeal Life Support Organization (ELSO) certified program in the state of Indiana. The ECMO program is one of only 6 Platinum Level Centers of Excellence in extra corporeal life support in the United States.

Dr. Roe received his MD degree from Southern Illinois University and completed his residency in internal medicine and pediatrics at Michigan State University. He completed a fellowship in pulmonary and critical care medicine at IU School of Medicine and IU Health Methodist Hospital.

His areas of clinical research include chronic rejection in lung transplant recipients and treating lung failure in adults. He serves on multiple committees nationally including the American Society of Transplantation’s OPTN/UNOS Policy Committee and the American Thoracic Society/American College of Chest Physicians’ Clinical Practice Committee.
