Biography

Since middle school, Dr. David W. Stockwell, MD, FAANS knew he wanted to practice medicine. He joined IU Health in 2016, after completing a complex spine fellowship in Texas. Stockwell believes in finding the most appropriate intervention to address his patients symptoms. He favors conservative measures when appropriate but reviews surgical interventions when indicated. When not practicing medicine, he enjoys spending time with his family and friends, exploring local restaurants, traveling, blacksmithing and working out.

Stockwell earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine. He completed his internship in general surgery and residency in neurosurgery at the University of Vermont. He is fellowship trained through the University of Texas and is board certified in neurosurgery.
