Biography
Dr. Jennifer E. Petersen-Goldspiel, MD, is a board certified invasive cardiologist who specializes in heart and vascular care. She has been in practice since 1999 and in the Bloomington community since 2004. She is a Fellow in the American College of Cardiology.
Dr. Petersen is an Associate Professor of Medicine Practice at IU School of Medicine. She is the director of noninvasive cardiac imaging for the south-central region and serves on the Medical Executive Committee and the Morbidity and Mortality Committee at IUH Bloomington Hospital.
Education
She is a graduate of the University of Illinois and received her medical degree from Rush Medical College, Chicago. She completed her Internal Medicine Internship, Residency and Fellowship at Rush Presbyterian-St. Luke’s Medical Center.
What Dr. Petersen-Goldspiel Treats
Dr. Petersen cares for patients with a variety of cardiac issues including coronary disease, ischemic cardiomyopathy and prior myocardial infarction, hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, dilated cardiomyopathy, elevated coronary calcium scores, atrial fibrillation and other arrhythmias, systolic and diastolic heart failure, hypertensive heart disease and difficult to control hypertension, pericardial disease, atrial or ventricular septal defect, aortopathy and all types of valvular heart disease.
She evaluates symptoms of chest pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, fainting and lower extremity edema without diagnosed cardiac disease.
Outside of Work
When not caring for patients, Dr. Petersen enjoys spending time with her husband, two sons and their Labrador Retriever. They love to be outdoors, going to the dog park and Lake Monroe.
