Biography

Kathryn Gyves, PT, DPT, NCS, CSRS, AVPT, CBIS, is a board-certified clinical specialist in neurology with IU Health Neurorehabilitation and Robotics. She is also the Team Lead of the clinic where she has worked for over 10 years. Kathryn's passion for helping treat those with neurological diagnoses has led her to pursue additional certifications that specialize in stroke, brain injury and vestibular rehabilitation. She has worked in various settings within neuro rehab, including acute care, inpatient rehab and outpatient rehabilitation. She specializes in the treatment of neurological conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Vestibular and dizziness disorders
  • Adult cerebral palsy
  • Stroke
  • Parkinson's Disease
  • Multiple sclerosis
  • Traumatic brain injury
  • Gait and balance impairments related to neurological conditions
  • Prosthetic gait training

In addition, she specializes in assessments and fittings of the BalanceWear Vest for those with postural control and balance deficits. She is a PT consultant in the Vestibular Clinic for further testing and assessment of patients with vestibular dysfunction.

Kathryn has presented at multiple conferences and symposiums during her career to share her knowledge on vestibular dysfunctions, stroke rehabilitation and the use of integrating advanced technology for optimizing patient recovery and outcomes. She is dedicated to providing the most thorough and optimal care for her patients, often collaborating with other disciplines and specialists to ensure the patient is receiving the best care.

Outside of work, Kathryn and her husband are avid travelers and love to explore other countries. Her desire to be creative extends outside of the clinic, where she enjoys gardening, landscaping, cooking and salsa dancing.
