Biography
Ryan Neyenhaus, MS, OTR, is an occupational therapist with IU Health Neurorehabilitation & Robotics. Ryan completed his undergraduate studies at University of Indianapolis. He obtained his Master of Science degree and Master of Business Administration at the University of Indianapolis.
Ryan has 20 years of experience in occupational therapy, working across multiple settings including inpatient rehabilitation, acute care and outpatient rehabilitation. Ryan specializes in the treatment of neurological conditions, including (but not limited to):
- Stroke
- Traumatic brain injury
- Parkinson's Disease
- Multiple sclerosis
- Neurosurgical patients
- Neuromuscular diseases (such as Parkinson’s, ALS, muscular dystrophy, etc.)
- Working with the ALS Multidisciplinary Clinic
Ryan works on a variety of treatments with his patients to facilitate their recovery, and some of those include:
- Activities of daily living retraining
- Adaptive equipment/durable medical equipment evaluations & education
- Upper extremity function (including use of robotics therapy)
- Functional mobility/functional transfer training
- Cognitive retraining
- Vision retraining
Ryan’s favorite thing about working with the neuro population is that it allows Ryan to work with his patients on functional and creative solutions to maximize independence and quality of life.
Outside of work, Ryan enjoys being active by running, playing the drums and spending time with his family: hiking, camping and traveling.
