Her nominator notes how Butler is always smiling, delighting patients as they enter the hospital and helping wherever she's needed. When a Spanish-speaking patient came in and needed help communicating, Butler speaks Spanish and went to help with the registration process.

She also spoke with the care team to make sure the patient understood everything they were doing.

Smiley stepped in to the role of prenatal intake nurse to help prioritize patients and her team when one of the two regular prenatal intake nurses was out of the office.

This helped prevent a delay in care for patients who would have needed to be rescheduled, and prevented overloading the other prenatal intake nurse. And Ashley handled the role with expertise, compassion and purpose.

"You would never know that Ashley was not a full-time prenatal intake nurse."

Locchetta had a patient with a severe condition, and the nurse went the extra mile to support them and advocate for them during their care conference.

She always volunteered to care for them, checking in on the patient and quickly escalating concerns to leadership as they arose. Locchetta also sought help from other specialties to ensure the best care was provided.

"Sarah role-modeled the care for this patient and was able to inspire many of her colleagues to do the same. The patient is extremely lucky to have had Sarah care for her."
