Below is an outline of upcoming construction activity, road and walkway impacts.
Weeks of June 10 and June 17
1. Closures for new hospital construction
Increased truck traffic is expected due to concrete pours and material deliveries. Sidewalks are closed around site perimeter. Intermittent impacts may occur along 16th St. and Capitol Ave. due to construction activities.
2. Capitol View construction
Potential Intermittent impacts to the sidewalks surrounding the new building and garage are anticipated due to construction activities and material deliveries. No major roadway impacts anticipated.
3. Closures for construction activities
Senate Ave. between 12th and 16th streets is closed. Sidewalks along Senate Ave. are also closed.
4. Closures for IU School of Medicine construction
15th Street between Senate Ave. and just east of the Neuroscience Center drive is permanently closed.
5. Closures for Central Utility Plant construction
A sidewalk closure is in place along Senate Ave. between 12th and 13th streets. 13th St. between Senate Avenue and just west of the Starbucks entrance is closed. Intermittent lane impacts along 12th St. between Senate and Capitol avenues are anticipated due to material deliveries.
6. Closures for South Support Building construction
A sidewalk closure along Capitol Ave. between 13th and 14th streets is in place.
7. Closures for Underground Utility Work
Week of June 17: Underground utility work will take place in the 14th and Capitol intersection just south of the IndyGo Redline station. No major lane impacts are anticipated along Capitol. A flagger will be implemented to direct westbound traffic along 14th St. turning southbound at Capitol—around the open excavation. Sidewalk closures are anticipated along the south side of 13th St. just north of the Starbucks property due to underground utility work. Flaggers and channelizing devices will be implemented as required. Starbucks vehicular and pedestrian access will be maintained.
8. Closures for AES substation construction
Intermittent lane impacts are anticipated along Senate Blvd. just south of 20th St. due to AES construction operations. Flaggers and channelizing devices have been implemented as required.

The new IU Health hospital in Downtown Indianapolis will combine adult services into one location with inpatient and observation beds, a full service outpatient center and a medical education building and on-site faculty offices.
