Heart transplant patient says physical therapy crucial to good outcome

Tommy Flynn has been at Methodist Hospital since mid-July waiting for, then receiving, and now recovering from his second heart transplant. During his stay physical therapists have worked with Tommy to optimize his strength and mobility, knowing how crucial those two components are to a successful outcome. “To have somebody there to really walk you through it, help you, encourage you, motivate you and show you best techniques is pretty crucial because that’s your access to mobility,” said Tommy. “Physical therapy is what gets you out of the bed and gets you going again and back to normal life.”
