Heart transplant recipient runs 5k with member of rehab team

Shortly after receiving a heart transplant in early 2022, David Wilkerson, who has been a runner most of his life, set his sights on completing a 5k. Not only that, but he challenged his physical therapist to join him. “I was at an appointment in September and asked one of the therapists, Lindsay Tucker, I was like… hey do you want to do a 5k with me,” said David. Lindsay, who admittedly does not like running, thought about it for a minute before giving him an answer: “I looked at him and I said, you know what… sure. I’ll do it with you, David.”
