IU Health Paoli Hospital Medical Assistant recognized for dedication to patient care

Every individual can make an impact on patient and team member experiences. Tricia Wilson-Sage, MAII, with the IU Health Paoli Visiting Specialty Clinic (VSC) recently earned a Being Excellent Everyday (BEE) Award for doing just that.

“I continuously try and show up for my team and help where I am needed” she shares. “I like to make them laugh and to make the days easier.”

Wilson-Sage was nominated by Regina Wolfe, CMA, who says, “Her dedication to patient care goes far beyond routine responsibilities.”

This includes taking time to listen carefully to patient concerns, anticipate their needs and provide reassurances during difficulty moments.

“One of the most important things for medical assistants and healthcare workers to know is that patient care is more than treating symptoms; it is about treating the whole person,” says Wilson-Sage. “Show each patient compassion and listen; it is some of the most stressful times of their lives.”

“Whether assisting a nervous patient before a procedure or offering comfort to someone facing a new diagnosis, she approaches every interaction with patience and understanding,” says Wolfe. “What truly sets Tricia apart is her ability to collaborate seamlessly with physicians and providers for our multi-specialty clinic.”

Wilson-Sage is described as quick to adapt to different workflows and clinical expectations, and the go-to person for the Podiatry team.

“Podiatry is one of our busiest clinics, and Tricia helps keep the clinic running smoothly," adds Wolfe.

“The VSC team is so supportive and has helped me navigate so much not only in my career but life,” shares Wilson-Sage, who is planning to further her education in the fall. “I'm no longer struggling to find my people, or where I belong. IU Health and the VSC team helped me do that.”
