Lung transplant recipient uses breath to inspire others through song
IU Health Methodist Hospital
Larry Graves has been singing in church for as long as he can remember. "It's what God has called me to do," he said. About eight years ago doctors diagnosed Larry with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, a condition that lead to a lung transplant in 2025. "I was singing in church for a while, but eventually I was having to take oxygen tanks up on stage with me and it just became really inconvenient," said Larry, who stepped away from singing in church for a time. Now, about eight months removed from his transplant surgery, he is now ready to take up his calling once more.
