Transplant
If facing end-stage organ failure, a kidney, pancreas, liver, lung, intestine or heart transplant will help you embrace life again.
Emilie Harmon has spent the last three months inpatient at Methodist Hospital waiting on a heart transplant. Her days are as routine as it gets, meeting with her care team, calling her mom in the afternoons, then turning to her arts and crafts, specifically origami. "I was making origami butterflies and the unit manager saw and asked me to make a bunch of them to decorate the wall outside their conference room. I was happy to do it because it helps pass the time and the whole team up here has become like a second family to me."
