Trauma team pulls weeds as metaphor for life
IU Health Methodist Hospital
Methodist Hospital's trauma team put on the gloves and pulled out the shovels at Newfields to participate in a therapeutic horticulture activity. "Horticulture is a team sport so when we bring volunteers out here, we want them to work together," said Kelly Korte, Newfield's horticulture volunteerism manager. Team members helped Newfields staff clear an overgrown garden to make way for new plants. "It's similar to when you think about life," said Kendra Johnson, an IU Health trauma therapist. "Sometimes we have to clear out some mental and emotional things in our lives so we can have new growth."
