Biography
Dr. Angela M. Richardson, MD, PhD, specializes in surgery and radiosurgery (Gamma Knife) for primary and metastatic brain tumors, as well as meningiomas, pituitary tumors and skull base tumors. She is an expert in cutting-edge neurosurgical techniques, including awake mapping, implanted brachytherapy, laser ablation, robotic surgery and minimally invasive approaches. She is focused on innovation in the care of brain tumor patients, leading several clinical trials and advancing brain tumor treatments through research in her independent laboratory.
Here, Richardson has secured grant funding for her laboratory studies on experimental therapeutics (gene therapy and nanoparticles) and the tumor microenvironment. She is nationally recognized, serving on the Women in Neurosurgery Executive Committee, on the Board of Directors of the Interurban Neurosurgical Society and as a reviewer for several national and international journals.
Richardson is a board-certified neurosurgeon and Director of Surgical Neuro-oncology. She is dual fellowship trained in Surgical Neuro-oncology (University of Miami) and Skull Base Surgery (University of Wisconsin – Madison). She graduated with a B.A. in Biochemistry from Columbia University in New York City and then earned her MD and PhD in Molecular Cell Biology and Genetics from Drexel University College of Medicine. She then completed her residency training in neurological surgery at the University of Miami / Jackson Memorial Hospital.
