Dr. Devi P. Patra, MD, is a fellowship-trained neurosurgeon specializing in skull base and vascular neurosurgery. Patra believes in treating each patient holistically—considering their medical history, personal concerns and life circumstances—to deliver the highest quality of care. Dr. Patra is committed to fostering trust through strong communication and shared decision-making, ensuring patients and their families are fully informed and supported throughout their journey.

Dr. Patra earned his medical degree from SCB Medical College in India. He completed his Neurosurgery Residency at the Mayo Clinic in Phoenix, Arizona, and additional training at Louisiana State University Health in Shreveport. He pursued advanced fellowships in cerebrovascular, skull base and endovascular surgery at the Mayo Clinic.

His clinical expertise includes:

  • Skull base neurosurgery for pituitary tumors, vestibular schwannomas, meningiomas, chordomas and craniopharyngiomas
  • Microvascular decompression techniques for trigeminal neuralgia and hemifacial spasm
  • Cerebrovascular and endovascular neurosurgery for brain aneurysms, AVMs, cavernous malformations and stroke syndromes
  • Surgical neuro-oncology for primary and metastatic brain tumors
  • Screening and management of familial aneurysms and high-risk vascular conditions

Dr. Patra is actively involved in research focused on:

  • AI and data science for early detection of brain aneurysms
  • Real-time, image-guided minimally invasive hematoma evacuation
  • Augmented and virtual reality in skull base surgical training

He is a member of the American Association of Neurological Surgeons, Congress of Neurological Surgeons and the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh.
